The Twitter culture has become extremely prominent in Las Vegas, as was Myspace in the few years post 2001. Though Facebook still has yet to fully penetrate Las Vegas. This is likely because of the lack of a college culture. Luckily for Facebook, it dominates the rest of America; however, I’m finding Seattle to be laggards when it comes to Twitter adoption.

Marketing implications? I don’t know, but still, no one uses Livejournal.

Cry, cry. I will edit convoluted grammatical structure later.

Man, I was such a good writer.
I suppose it’s true that ‘if you don’t use it, you lose it.’

OR
Perhaps I am just setting higher standards for myself. Eh?

The weekend thus far has felt…adult-esque.

On Friday, I met Travis’s friends that he met while teaching in Korea, and it felt very international. The entire group basically didn’t know each other, and we were forced to have ‘those’ kind of conversations. It wasn’t bad. In actuality, it felt like I was studying abroad again and meeting those types of people. They were also recent graduates, and after rejection from about 20 companies, one of the guys managed to score a position in Gyeonggi province in Korea. This gives me hope in doing the same. Except, replace Korea with Taiwan.

Saturday: went to Nathan’s going away bbq. He is moving to Hong Kong until January to study abroad. This makes me pretty jealous, although I am definitely not a fan of the Hong Kong-ish personality type. Just being able to travel is enough. I also found out that Tiff was moving to Shanghai and Jen to New York. In particular, she is moving to some apartment near Wall Street and hasn’t even gotten a job yet. She is just moving out there and pursuing a dream. That takes guts, and I admire that. There are a few others I know from Seattle who are actually doing the exact same thing, and I have to hand it to them, they have earned my respect in that sense. Whether they succeed or not is a different story, but just going out there is enough.

Afterward, I had a conversation with my friend who is in the process of starting up his own company. He asked me if I would be able to help him head up his sales division, and I told him that I was interested though he should contact me later if he was serious-serious because I am definitely willing. We will see if he follows through, and that will show me if he is truly committed to working hard – working for real. I have had my fair share of people who SAY things, but never make things actually HAPPEN. I hope he will be able to differentiate.

Lastly, I spent the majority of the day helping Eric and Wilson move into their new downtown apartment on First Hill. I discovered that this place is, seriously, the most Euro trendy building that I have been to since moving to Seattle. I was…to say the least…blown out of my mind! Their complex has a mix of young professionals, international students, and families. Amenities include: swimming pool, hot tub, free WiFi, water utilities paid, free printer/copier service, a computer room, 3 tanning stations, decked out gym, DVD theatre room (with actual theatre seating!), and the best part — rooftop view of downtown Seattle. Not to mention, the place is in a shaded and rustic community, mere blocks from the Red Lion Hotel, and five minutes walking distance from a supermarket. It’s all so brilliant, too brilliant. Quite ridiculous. If I ever move and return to Seattle, I am going to have to really consider this place. A one bedroom apartment is roughly $900, but with all of that stuff, I think I will be likely persuaded to lease. All in all, just seeing a place like that and taking in the environment juxtaposed against the University District was eye opening enough.

There is a mass migration and change in everyone’s life at this point. I am grateful to be a part of it and realize the metamorphosis around me. After graduation, we were all initially in our honeymoon stage where we were still aloof to the fact that we were free. Totally and utterly free. Though now we have grown to understand that the world is our oyster (apologies for the cliche remark). We have all become unafraid of pursuing what we want out of life, and thus everyone is taking the steps to becoming true adults in every sense of the word.

I can only wonder who these people I have come to know will become down the line, but I rest assured that they will be ones I will have had the privilege of calling my friends. I have already built up the groundwork for a strong network for the future. In the end, today was such an epiphany, and honestly, the best day that I have had in a very long while.

There can only be so many omens before I admit that there is something seriously wrong with my decision to work through Reach to Teach.

Goodbye. I no longer desire an interview…
but what about all those letters of recommendation I requested…eeehhh.
Oops haha.

Just got back from the Luce info session. …..

I feel seriously pwned. I am very qualified in some respects; but when it comes down to my GPA, my 3.5 just isn’t going to cut it when dealing with those prodigy east coast kids. I think that program is just TOO pretentious for its own good.

On another semi-related note, today has been the busiest day since college ended. Feels kinda nice, actually. I miss being in these tiring situations which makes coming home and relaxing all the more satisfying.

One minute I’m sitting at home with nothing to do, self-reflecting and loathing the fact that I have nothing to look forward to for the rest of my life. Then the next moment, I have five interviews lined up in the next 7 days (two of which are tomorrow). This is kinda-very crazy! I just hope that I don’t manage to screw them all up at once haha. Nervous siiigh.

Well the jobs aren’t very prestigious nor near the final stages, but they’re things that I can see myself thoroughly enjoying and am excited to grasp at. I had to ask myself what I valued more: fame and wealth vs. self-satisfaction. I would like to find a way to combine those two desires. SOON. In a perfect world…

Been really lazy the past few days. Ought to whip myself back in line, and get some work done. I have concentration problems though. Sigh.

I wonder how great it’d be to work here.

I wonder why I didn’t do more soul searching back in college, so I would have had the opportunity to network with professionals in that field while I had the chance. I suppose it’s not too late, but I would have liked to have gotten a head start when I had the “I’m a student” crutch.

It seems like I am really catering my resume to international aspects and farther from marketing. I like it though. I’m happy with this pursuit because it seems to fit me better, but I’m wondering what types of entry level positions are out there to really cater to this interest.
