Foolish

An idealist developed this. I found it foolish enough to post yet valuable still to remind me how naive the world can be.

Epiphany moment about Vegas food culture

Vegas has no good food aside from those fancy Strip restaurants because mom-and-pops can’t afford to source any fresh ingredients. When they attempt to, they charge an arm and a leg to cover their expenses, thus repelling every cost-conscious Las Vegan. Are there any local produce options for the dessert? Corn? Cattle? What is the Vegas food specialty and how can we differentiate ourselves?

the stuff i think about from sitting around all day…

Last morning in New York feels like bleh

Perhaps I posted this prior? Who knows, but here are my sentiments again.

In every relationship, there’s always one who gives more than the other. I’m one to always wear his heart on his sleeve. That’s probably my greatest weakness in this whole Love Game. I’m not looking to get my heart broken again, yet at the same time I understand that without doing so, I can’t expect to grow.

Lee and Lee Apartment Review

I’m saving my old reviews here because Melissa Yao, Apartment Manager, has solicited me to remove them off of Yelp in exchange for a free four days rent. However, I do not want to lose these truthful and accurate reviews.

I still live here. So I can’t possibly hate it THAT bad, but I’m definitely not loving my experience here either. I was first attracted to the place because of the free internet and proximity to campus. Even checking out the place, although it was run down, it was spacious and bright so I decided to move in.

The property manager has been pretty helpful but aloof in most situations to things that don’t directly concern her. I sent her an issue about my water bill being so high, I thought I had a leak in my apartment somewhere. She was very unhelpful, although she did reply to me very fast. I think most of the problems and complaints from this apartment stem from her. But…I think she tries…bless her for trying…

Aside from that, the free internet is slow and doesn’t work unless you are at a specific spot in your apartment. It’s pretty quiet so you won’t get a lot of loud drunkeys in the middle of the night. And the rent is pretty cheap for what you get. Overall, I would recommend moving in here, but make sure you don’t get a shatty apartment because each unit is different. Make sure you affirm yourself and take no shii when signing your lease. REMEMBER YOU’RE THE RESIDENT, YOU’RE THE BOSS and you’ll be okay.

A saving grace about this place is Gary, the maintenance guy. He’s extremely nice, helpful, and returns your calls. Just recently, I sent an email about a bug problem which I didn’t expect to get resolved easily. I studied my old law book in preparation for a battle, but then he helped me clean my apartment – offered to let me borrow his extreme power vacuum whenever I needed it – and even offered to bug bomb the place if I wanted.

I felt compelled to update my rating because of this experience although the apartment complex rating itself doesn’t change.

*** UPDATE 3/24/11:
I just received a call from the apartment manager to make me clarify that ‘no’ the apartment complex does not have a bug problem. But, fact of the matter was, I woke up with bug bites all over my arms so I wanted help with a thorough cleaning of my room. Gary was willing to help me and he was incredibly nice in doing so.

Take this update for what you will. Take the 3-4 other reviews that were here but have been deleted for what you will. Take my OPINIONS for what you will, whether it deter you in moving in this place or not ~ I mean, I’m still living here so something must be worth staying for.

*** UPDATE 40 MINUTES LATER
I was just contacted AGAIN to specify that after a week and a half, the bug bites dissipated, and now I am living in a wonderful living environment that I would recommend to all my friends and family – yay – extreme sarcasm! Beware the apartment manager whose name begins with an ‘M’ and ends with an ‘ellisa’.

Remember:

True success is not possible without failure.

Be open to failure.

Again, this is reaffirming:
It’s not the height of your logic, but the depth of your conviction.
