The Dalai Lama is coming to campus on April 14. I really want to go see him, but no one wants to go with me. In fact, I am surprised that so little of my friends know about him and his accomplishments as a humanitarian. I’m more disturbed actually than anything else. At any rate, it has been difficult finding someone to go with me, so I’m using this entry as an open call! If you’re in the Seattle area, give me a ring-aling. I’ll consider this one of those ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunities.

I’d totally go. If I wasn’t in school, I’d fly out there and see him. I’m more or less a Vajrayana/Tibetan Buddhist and I’d really like to see him, as the Dalai Lama is supposed to no longer be legitimately reincarnating. Crazy stuff. If no one goes, you should anyways, it will absolutely be a once in a lifetime opportunity and it will be a wonderful experience, I’m sure.
indeed. i got my tickets reserved this morning.
His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama will speak on compassion and civic responsibility, followed by a dialogue with university students. As part of the convocation, the University of Washington will confer upon the Dalai Lama the honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters.

i will definitely post pictures and attempt to provide a summary of his words here on livejournal
Aww I’m a little jealous. Totally un-Buddhist of me but I do want to see him before he croaks. Such a cool old bugger. :]
I saw a movie interview with him. He’s really hard to understand but they’ll probably have TVs up with translations hahaha, but yeah, really incredible and progressive guy, even by Tibetan Buddhist standards.
I read about this in The Daily and an email. I might go if I have no other plans on that day. April 14 is still pretty far from today. Anyway, I’ll let you know if I do go. Did you already register for your complementary admissions ticket?
Ehh, are all the tickets are sold-out? The form on the website says “UW Seattle Student – All seats available for your school have been reserved.” I don’t know if that means anyone with a UW student ID card can just get in, or if there really are not seats left. Boo!
yeah…the seats got sold out surprisingly fast, but i still managed to get one. hopefully someone i know got one too, but i’d still go nonetheless.
