Career-minded epiphany

Feeling around other agencies and portfolios tonight. Seems like I’m not as big of a shit as I originally thought. Well…in my age range I am. But that phase is over. I compete against over a million other candidates at this point, and once again, I have to step up my game by a thousand fold.

That means a lot more hard work on my part. Stop resting on complacency. Enhance my portfolio to a point that doesn’t hesitate to shame and embarrass others. Time to kill and inherit a mindset of ruthlessness.

…though I wonder. Is this the right mentality I should be adopting? Why am I always so focused on bettering my career. Aren’t there other important things in life? Though it seems like work is what I’m best at. Why not excel at it? Whatever. It seems like things are just falling in place like this in my life. Even going out of my way to pushing a lifestyle shift has yielded paltry response.

If life gives you lemons – make lemonade. Don’t go out of your way to try and squeeze eggs benedict out from that shit.

In all honesty, I was going to re-gift it at first. But then again, naaaaaah I’m keepin’ this bia. After more reflection, if I were to give this out, that just means I’d have to step up the caliber of my other gifts out of fairness. Thanksgiving Thanks

Sad that I have a few less things to be thankful for this year, but then again, shouldn’t I always be looking on the brighter side of things? Instead of focusing on the things I’ve lost, what have I gained this year?

Full-time job. Clearer path in my career. Got the opportunity to travel again in the US.

Too bad things have been super shitty in the world of friends. On the bright side, all this does is compel me to look forward and move on from places that hold me back. I think I’ve outgrown Seattle, and this realization itself is something to be thankful for.
